Paris hit the news this week with another very hot love story!
But this time, it went far beyond our National bedroom farces. This time, Mesdames, Messieurs the love story involves millions of couples from all over the world ! Millions of lovers who clamped padlocks to the railings as tokens of their desire to be “locked in love forever.”

This symbol to me is anything but love : it shouts possession, prison, narcissism and blindness to the surrounding beauty. Look at what’s left of the Pont des Arts:

Officials estimates the number of locks hanging on the bridge at more than 700 000 ! a load of about 500 kg for each panel !

Love as I want it, as I try to teach it to my kids, is of a very different kind. It goes with respect, caring and freedom.
Life is not about getting and having, it is about giving and being. Want to show your love? Share your smiles and happiness by taking a selfie instead of padlocking Paris’ most cherished heritage sites. Share it with #LoveWithoutLocks. Your image will appear on a special website alongside other enlightened lovers who choose to cherish memories over things.

Weird trends to me. I would find it much more romantic if my husband would treat me with a diamond charm each time we visit a new city. Could engrave the name of the city, the date, et voilà 😉 ok, it is a little more expensive than a padlock, but it would definitely look better, no?
hahaha. i wonder what your husband would have to say to the diamond charm for each and every city you both visit, though. lol.
but, yes to diamond charms! =p
