The antidote to the season’s blues
Welcome to fall: Days get shorter, nights get longer, we feel more and more compelled to stay inside. It’s almost time to pull our complaints about winter out of storage!
For some of us, fall is the start of the dread SAS (Seasons Affected Disorder) that will sap our energy and make us feel moody until we can feel the energy of Spring again.
As it’s getting colder in our part of the world, I drafted this challenge so keep me on positive tracks before winter really sets in. I have started it a couple of days ago in IG @estelea_yoga and I’d love to have you on board too. It’s always more empowering to commit to positive attitude and intentions when we feel the support of a community of like minded people 🙂
The November Challenge Program
Every day, I will upload a picture on IG @stephanie_estelea and give specific tips for the Challenge. Feel free to tag me and add #topnov so I can add your pictures to my daily stories.
You can still catch up with the last 2 days:
Day 1 was about setting our intention:
In the yoga philosophy there’s a magic word called “Sankalpa”. It’s a resolution to move your life in the direction of what you want to create.
A sankalpa is your heartfelt intention and it must be stated in a positive way only. Ask yourself what do I want ? How do I want to feel ?
And write a very simple sentence.
After a hectic year, I had the feeling of not controlling anything, always reacting without the time to feel that the decisions made were mine.
It’s been raining all night here in the South of France and the thunderstorm lasted for hours. I felt it was echoing my current emotional state. But this is what nature greeted me with this morning ☀️
So here’s my sankalpa : “I am present and confident”.
Once you wrote yours close eyes and repeat it. It should feel just right ☺️
Write the words and repeat them often (the exact same words) . You can start with first thing in the morning and last before you fall asleep.
Repeat it before your yoga practice to articulate it with your movement and your breath.
Write it somewhere you can see it often. Maybe as a screen shot ?
Remember that energy goes where intention goes.
What’s your sankalpa ? How would you illustrate it ?
Day 2: Gratitudes
List 4 gratitudes … could be people you’re so glad to have in your life, food, gifts of nature, qualities …
☀️Today I’m so grateful for my good health and the opportunity to share the magic of yoga with my friends this morning.
☀️I’m grateful for my family who I love unconditionally.
☀️I’m grateful for this beautiful seasons we gave in France : the fun of the morning rains to school, the mesmerizing beauty of last night sunset
☀️I’m grateful for the privilege to have projects that I want to do – not have to do ❣️
how when you write your gratitudes, you ll find more reasons to be grateful . Your energy field is changing 🌈
What are you grateful for today ? Write your gratitudes in your journal and if there’s more coming, let them in and write them too ☀️
Day 3: Mundane Beauty
This is a challenge about finding beauty in almost everything. The challenge is simple: find beauty in everyday mundane things and you can capture the beauty with a picture 😊
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and the more you ll pay attention, the more you ll come across beautiful mundane things …
It’s been raining all day in the South of France. But look at those colorful and soft pebbles. They have been polished by the sea and they are so soft.
They drove me back to Vietnam and Thich Naht Hanh méditation on thé 3 pebbles, a very simple and rounding one we can practice from 5 yo 🙂
Select 4 pebbles or stones. Each one represents an element of nature: a flower, a mountain, calm water, and space.
As you select each pebble, place it in the palm of your hand. Three breaths are taken with each pebble. After you finish with each pebble, place it back down and choose the next.
The following words are written by Thich Nhat Hanh:
🌸Breathing in, I see myself as a flower. Breathing out, I feel fresh.
Breathing in, I see myself as a mountain. Breathing out, I feel solid.
Breathing in, I see myself as still water. Breathing out, I reflect things as they truly are. Water, Reflecting
Breathing in, I see myself as space. Breathing out, I feel free.
🧘🏻♀️Breathe in and out three times, reciting to yourself, the final phrase for each of the stones.
A demain !
I will post the tips of Day 4 and my take on the Challenge.. See you there too 🙂
