Those are my favorite shoes ever, Ferragamo Suede Stilettos: Red, feminine, Italian of course.
Yet they have spent so many years in the darkness of my closets – blame it on our years in Asia: Vietnamese and Filipino sidewalks are definitely not made for heels so I wore Nike instead, swapping style for comfort. I couldn’t even wear them for diners at friends: in Asia you don’t wear shoes indoor. It’s rude and dirty to bring the dust from outside inside. It would break my heart to see my Ferragamo feeling lonely at door steps- what would they share with flip flop and sneakers?
Did you know that under Louis’s rule, the higher and redder the heel, the more powerful the wearer. In 1670, he passed an edict that stated that only nobility could wear heels. The red heel was symbolic: it showed that its wearer was rich enough not to dirty his shoes and that he was powerful enough to crush his enemies underfoot.
And now I am looking at my favorite pair of shoes ever and I feel it is time to reconnect. Yes, it is cold outside (but no rain nor snow yet), but what if instead of waiting for the perfect weather and the perfect occasion, we make it? What is we decide to create this perfect moment now? We are always waiting for a special time, a result, a perfect weather, so our happiness is conditioned by an event of the future. We are constantly on tunnel vision and we close all the little windows of the present.
So today I am wearing my favorite shoes, and I already know how they will make me feel! Let’s make this Monday bold and add some passion in our lives. It’s about time 😉
